Water weight can be attributed to salt intake, but it can also be due to an imbalance of minerals in the body; or an overly acidic body. Cells require a balance of minerals for water to be able to enter the cell. If a person is in an acidic state, these minerals are out of balance and the body cannot use the water properly. In these cases as well as in kidney issues, we see edema or water retention. The body may also hold onto water weight in an attempt to dilute toxins.
Urine color can be helpful in some cases. Excessive protein can turn urine a dark color, along with certain supplements. If there is internal bleeding, there may also be a color variation.
